This man was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1915, the highest military award for bravery in the face of the enemy. He was 20 years old when he was killed.

It’s wild to listen to this, hearing him sing “hello!” Felt like he was saying hello to me personally. When we look at history we often lose sight of the fact that these were real people with real lives that were every bit as important to them as yours is to you. In this way, Edward and men like him are the most important to study, the average man who isn’t in control, the men who were there because they were there. Thank you Edward.

I heard a poem by a WWI soldier that had the words "I'm not really here...." in it. I can't remember the author or the name of the poem. Does anyone know what it might be. It was very clever.

I did some research and on his Wikipedia page it states that this man earned himself a Victoria Cross for “ most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty at "Hill 60" on the 20th April, 1915. When his trench was heavily attacked by German grenade throwers he climbed on to the parapet, and, although subjected to a hail of bombs at close quarters, succeeded in dispersing the enemy by the effective use of his hand grenades. Private Dwyer displayed great gallantry earlier on this day in leaving his trench, under heavy shell fire, to bandage his wounded comrades.” The men of those days, on both sides, were tough as nails for sure.

The universe has been going on an awfully long time... A wartime cadence singer can break it down in esprit de corps with such succinct concision from WW1, it's like another blast from the past homie. ✌️
